Two workers were killed and two others injured after being buried under soil during excavation work at Access Road in Chattogram’s Agrabad area early today.
The deceased were identified as Rakib, 25, and Tushar, 22. Further details about them could not be known immediately, said Sub-inspector Nur Alam Asheq, in charge of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost.

Quoting eyewitnesses SI Nur Alam said, the incident happened around 4:50am when soil collapsed during excavation for installing a WASA sewerage line, trapping four workers underneath.
“Co-workers rescued the victims and took them to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared two of them dead. The two injured workers have been admitted to the hospital’s casualty ward.”
He added that excavation work by China Hydro Company was ongoing in the Access Road area.
The bodies have been kept at the morgue.
No official statement has yet been issued by the authorities concerned.
